Goldleaf gilding of the finial at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Hyde Park, London. The photograph shows the finial having been re-gilded from the top down to the roof level in extra thick 23.5ct goldleaf. The clients required the project to be carried out in two stages. At the time the photograph was taken the bottom half of the finial was yet to be re-gilded and you can see the condition before our intervention and the difference between the two sections. The project, which was carried out from enclosed scaffold, involved restoration of all damaged surface areas of the finial prior to our undertaking the re-gilding. The finished work was protected by a clear varnish due to the height of the finial and its exposure to high winds and adverse weather conditions.

Gold Leaf Gilding

Being asked to undertake the traditional goldleaf gilding at the Tower of London Crown Jewels House has been a tremendous accolade for Brian The Brush, especially during the Queen's Diamond Jubilee year. Even after more than forty years as one of the UK's leading experts in the traditional art of gold leaf gilding we feel projects don't come much bigger than that. However, we are always delighted to undertake all types and sizes of gilding projects, from the smallest honours board to the biggest monument, and consistently produce work of the highest quality.

Brian and his team regularly travel throughout the UK undertaking all types of gilding projects, including reverse glass gilding, decorative and achitectural gilding. We invite you to browse through our Gilding gallery and see some of the most recent works we have carried out. If we can assist you by providing a quotation for your project please do not hestiate to ask.
