We had the privilege of being asked to undertake a project at the Manchester home once owned by the novelist Elizabeth Gaskell. The property had recently undergone a refurbishment and our brief was to add signwriting and artwork directly onto the walls in the style of, and pertinent to, the era of Elizabeth Gaskell’s lifetime.
Attached are a few samples of our work, all traditionally hand painted, in various positions around the building, including directly onto some particularly rough brickwork. This adds a very tricky dimension to the project which would faze a lot of people in this trade. However, we have the expertise and extensive experience to produce signwriting directly onto rough surfaces without it affecting the design or finish required. Everybody connected with the brief was delighted with the results. We hope Elizabeth Gaskell would have been delighted too!
