Reverse glass gilding is a skill considered to be the pinnacle of the traditional signwriting profession, and only a select few artisans are left who have the ability to do it.
This is a beautiful example of the art at a furniture shop in Harrogate, featuring an intricate 3.5″ motif gilded directly onto two glass shop entrance doors to the highest possible standard, emphasising the traditional skills that have made Brian the Brush one of the UK’s leading exponents in the fine art of goldleaf glass gilding.
The motif and wording were triple gilded in 23.25ct loose goldleaf, then backed up in black and varnished for extra protection.
The client was absolutely delighted with the result.
